GRIP-FLEX Micro-Surfacing on Southwest USA Airports

GRIP-FLEX Surfacing is particularly well suited to the climate of the Southwestern United States because GRIP-FLEX will not degrade environmentally or fade in the manner typical of asphalt products or other standard pavement maintenance products.  In 2004 we began working with TxDOT Aviation to identify scenarios where GRIP-FLEX Micro-Surfacing could provide a more cost-effective solution to client needs than other traditional methods of pavement rehabilitation or resurfacing.  In 2005 we were awarded a resurfacing project at Terrell County Airport (Dryden, TX) and in 2006 we were awarded a resurfacing project at Mid Valley Airport (Weslaco, TX).  At present we have several other resurfacing projects in various stages of development in other parts of Texas.  In 2006 we established a relationship with the Oklahoma Aviation Commission and were awarded projects at Max Westheimer (Norman, OK), R. L. Jones Airport (Tulsa, OK) and Stillwater Regional (Stillwater, OK).  We are also presently looking at specific opportunities in other southwestern states.

TEXAS
If there is a state in the lower 48 that NEEDS General Aviation it is the Great State of Texas.  The size of a small country with the economy to match, commerce is greatly improved through the use of over 300 General Aviation airports which are carefully monitored and maintained through the stewardship of TxDOT Aviation along with local governments and the FAA.  The first installation of a GRIP-FLEX Surface on a General Aviation Airport occured in 2005 at Terrell County Airport located on Rt. 90 between Dryden and Sanford near the border with Mexico.  In early 2007 a GRIP-FLEX Surface was installed on a portion of Mid Valley Airport in Weslaco Texas.  We expect to install many many more GRIP-FLEX Surfaces in the Lone Star State.  Below are thumbnail images from the projects... just click on the picture to see an enlarged version.

Terrell County Airport - Dryden, Texas after resurfacing with GRIP-FLEX in 2005. GRIP-FLEX was used to fill 200,000 linear ft. of cracks, raise 600 sq. yds. of lowspot (birdbaths) and give this airport a jet black look which will serve the community for the next 15-20 years.

Oklahoma
With some of the most advanced flight training programs in the United States, Oklahoma can lay claim to being the center of General Aviation Training in the western USA.  The Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission was looking for a better solution for their enourmous need for pavement rehabilitation when they found the GRIP-FLEX booth at an aviation conference.  We installed our first GRIP-FLEX Surface at Max Westheimer Airport - Norman in late 2006 and in 2007 installed GRIP-FLEX Surfacing at Stillwater Regional Airport and R.L. Jones Airport in Tulsa.
